National Hurricane Center (NHC) reports that Kay has strengthened into a hurricane.
The storm is expected to reach Baja California by Wednesday, bringing heavy rains to Mexico's southwest.
Kay is this season's 11th tropical storm.
Tropical storm Kay could become a category 1 hurricane with winds upto 80 mph.
Southern Baja California peninsula may experience tropical storm conditions by Wednesday. The area has already been placed under a Tropical Storm Watch.
